Name 4 or 5 separate ways of causing metabolic alkalosis and how could you compensate?

1. Nosogastric drainage 2. Diuretic-induced 3. Intravascular volume depletion 4. Hypokalemia 5.Use of corticosteroids 6.Vomiting 7.Citrate in transfused blood-is metabolized to bicarbonate, can be compaund MA 8. Diarrhea 9.primary aldosteronism MA-Serum PH>7.4 loos of acid from stomach or kidneys Plazma bicarbonat retention how correct it Mild or moderate M.Alk usually no specific treatment volume depletion has to be correct first after this look for simptoms and lab data -gastric alkalosis-infusionof saline solutions-- what enhance renal bicarbonat excretion and correct alkalosis  Diuretic induced alkal-KCL and give some CL it will help to remove Hco3 from plazma correct me if i am wrong, thank you

Doesn't diarrhea cause metabolic acidosis NOT alkalosis?

lots of book say it is alkalosis, Contraction alkalosis: Loss of bicarbonate-poor, chloride-rich extracellular fluid, as observed with thiazide diuretic or loop diuretic therapy or chloride diarrhea, leads to contraction of extracellular fluid volume. Because the original bicarbonate mass is now dissolved in a smaller volume of fluid, an increase in bicarbonate concentration occurs. This increase in bicarbonate causes, at most, a 2- to 4-mEq/L rise in bicarbonate concentration. Christie Thomas, MD, FACP, Associate Professor, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Nephrology, University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics But according Harrison diarrhea is metabolic acidosis I probably have to more study
