The incidence of intraventricular hemorrhage at autopsy is least in stillborns ,greater for those dying in first 24 hours ,and greatest for those dying between 1and 3 days ..The incidence then decreases rapidly...
These findings are compatible with the hypothesis that such hemorrhages are related to hypoxia,acidosis,and blood pressure changes ,all of which are common in the first day of life...
