See attachment for background.
Premise:
1. Part of the 'dirty effects' of TCA is that it has anticholinergic properties
2. Anticholinergics increase the dopamine-ACh balance in the brain
3. Increased dopamine would inhibit prolactin secretion...
Which would not lead to galactorrhea...but this is wrong somewhere, because it does. Where? Why?

Yes, this is the same question I posted. smiling face But I have not read about TCA's affecting Dopamine, (i only know about seratonin and NE), and furthermore, why would an antidepressant DECREASE dopamine, when dopamine is already decreased in depression???

If TCA's do decrease dopamine then this explanation for galactorrhea is right, however it seems strange how TCA's would work for depresson if this is the mechanism.
