It is silicosis. In silicosis we have honeycomb appearance in the lungs with macrophages that ingested silia dusts in the borders. this is a picture of silicosis and you can compare it with the one in the question. aren't they the same?

The picture is showing alveoli of the lung. Their function is gas exchange. So which of the choices affects gas exchange? (thats what I think they are asking)

I think maybe asbestosis or silicosis?

Any ideas?

I chose asthma -- because the mucus produced would affect gas exchage

  #9

osteomed09, asthma would affect bronchi and expiration, here are alveoli. Why not pneumonia?

  #10

Does everyone agree that it has to be some type of restrictive lung disease that interferes with gas exchange? I think silicosis because it causes fibrosis of the lung.

i think its silicosis not asbnestosis bcz i cant see the asbestos bodies

  #17

those going in favour of pneumonia dont u think the pic given is not that of conolidation neither doesn it shows neutrophilic infilatration.

  #18

plz correct me if i am wring about pneumonia picture

  #19

MY FIRST THOUGHT WAS THAT THESE WERE FIBROBLASTS

  #20

Guys the question clearly says which disease will affect the tissue shown....its not a pic of the pathological tissue. Here it a normal alveolus, hence they wanna know which ds will primarily affect at level of alveolus.
