thank you khorshid. well its thursday 2pm and after some hardcore studying last couple of days i took half the day off today, talked with family, did some sport and listened to music. now i'm drinking coffee and will start.
PLAN for today: pharma, behaviour, epidiomology
5 days to go.

  #102

okay. yesterday i called prometric and postponed it ! it was in last minute (11:30am 5 days pre!!!!!), wow. i had to do this cuz i really wasnt confident to get okay-ish score. 77 or so would kinda suck. i dont know. my test date is 11 sep now. will make a plan and try to study the next 2 weeks just like i studied the last week ( why didnt i start earlier with this hard core studying ?! ).

we're sitting in the same boat khorshid, huh?
18 or so more days now for me!
new hope for my original plan 90+++++++++++++++ !!!!

  #103

Falcon, you did the right thing, if you were not confident,so we'll just try hard and we'll beat it. I am going to the cafe now, I need alive people around mewink, I am becoming hallucinated in home, so I'll take my stuff and I'll study there today.Good Luck to us!

  #104

thanks. yeah its better this way. one disadvantage is my application for interviews in eras, the later i get my step 1 score and my ecfmg cert. the lower my chances. but at the moment i'm not thinking about that. i'm just thinking of step 1.
in 16 days it'll be over.
today: molecular and cellular biology
i wish you (us) a nice and good-study weekend...

Long time no writing, I am done with UW, I just need to review the tests, 30% of qbank is left, in the past two days I reviewed biochem and genetics, need to work on biostatics...And my weak area: CNS pharm, oh god, I just can't keep them in my head, they are floating everywhere...
I am really calm these days, may be a little too calm, I watch TV, read other stuff...I want to be able to continue, if I put too much pressure and stress right now I can only go for a couple of days...the problem is that I know most of the stuff and I don't know them, it means when I see a q I know it is that point that I saw in that book and I wrote in that note book and..but I seem to forget the little detail, As if a large amount of data is floating in my head, and I need to organize them and make them handy...well maybe that's everybody's problemgrin...
GL to all of us

  #106

okay, tomorrow i'm gonna do some pharm,
i booked the trip to the city where the testing centre is...
one more week....
yeah good luck to all of us :-)

  #107

Two days in the nature, and I feel ready to fight again, It was a much needed break, fresh cool air healed me, tonight I'll just go over some notes, from tomorrow on Qs,Qs and Qs, old and new.
Falcon I need to work endlessly on pharm :-).

  #108

we have to stay calm and confident in the last weeks and days, we prepared well till now and we are going to pass with a high score!
just have faith in yourself.

  #109

today Qs from qbank and qbook, I'm still busy reviewing the answers, yes falcon we're going to pass with a high score!! thanks for the inspiration.

did renal and musculoskell till afternoon, afterwards i wasnt in the mood of studying, watched some football, our native country won in the asian cup qualifiers against syria 2-0, and then germany played in the euro-cup qualifier against san marino 13-0 !!! . have to do some renal tomorrow and then neuro...
wow, monday's the day for me and there won't be any rescheduling...
good luck to you for today!

khorshid, this is a current high yield list from kaplan. maybe it helps you...

Anatomy Embryology: Major milestones of embryological development, common defects like Tetralogy of Fallot, transposition of the great heart vessels, cleft palate, important teratogens. Gross: landmarks for physical exam maneuvers and common procedures like spinal tap, sites of frequent injury like carpal tunnel, rotator cuff, ACL. Neuro: UMN and LMN, cranial nerves, layers affected in cranial hemorrhages--basically you need to be able to think backward so you can deal with Where is the lesion items that just present symptoms, and Neuro is pretty high yield overall. Histology items aren't too frequent, but instead, items hit Cell Biology mostly now.

Physiology is high yield, period. But really key to understand underlying mechanisms, especially for the big organ systems including cardiovascular, renal, endocrine, pulmonary, special senses, and to know receptors as these get hit from both Physio and Pharm perspectives.

Biochemistry has fewer items than Physio, Micro, Path or Pharm, but try to focus on knowing the key regulatory enzymes, where energy is produced or used in big pathways, how pathways link up to each other, and what enzyme defects lead to clinical diseases.

Microbiology Focus mainly on the Clinical Microbiology section of the Notes. It is excellent and all high yield.

Immunology Anything here is high yield.

Pathology Highest yield in systemic Path are the diseases hitting CVS, renal, pulmonary, endocrine, but this whole subject is hit with lots of questions, so it's hard to narrow down very much.

Pharmacology Much like Path, this is all pretty high yield, but expect plenty of questions that require you to know what group a drug is in, in order to know what its mechanism of action is, the contraindications for drugs of choice in initial treatments, and be able to work basic problems in pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics.

Behavioral The Notes on this are relatively short and every page is high yield. This subject hurts IMG performance often, so it's worth spending time on knowing it very well.

right now that I'm writing here falcon is writing the test, so let's pray for falcon :-)...it's 10 am here, I've done 100qs since morning, the results were not bad, I could have done better, right now I want to do 50 more and then read their answers...only 17 days left. I should be strong and yeah I should do much more. Good luck to everybody.

  #124

thanks guys, thank you khorshid for praying :-) ...
wow, i really can't tell how it went. i know i didnt suck and i know it wasn't great...anything in between.
ok, what was asked:
PHYSIO: a lot of q's, i think physiology and pathophysio were the most asked subjects, cardio, nephro, endocrinology...all the topics.
BIOCHEM: not so much q's, lysosomal storage disease...
MOLECULAR,CELL,GENETICS: was asked. i remember q's about DNAreplication, p53, translocations, tumor suppresor genes, microsatelites, i-cell disease, and quite a few q's on G-proteins, adenylylclase, camp...
ANATOMY: not much and as far as i remember easy q's
EMBRYOLOGY: hardly one q , i only remember one q on neural tube defect
PHARMA: a lot! med's and side effects
MICROBIO: a lot, all the stuff from FA, antibiotics...
IMMUNO: also heavily tested, IL's, MHC, B- and Tcell diseases...
EPI: some easy q's on spec/sens, PPV and so and some real awkward q's that i never heard of
BEHAVE: a lot of doc-patient questions, somehow on all of them i could rule out all but two choices and then i was like 50-50 (damn, what would i respond...)

ALL IN ALL i can say that its really doable, just keep on your reading and your q-doing and you'll be fine. i took a break of around 10 minutes after each block.
OKAY, that was it, now its time for ERAS and application and all the stuff for me.
KHORSHID, i remember some q's if you wanna know them mail me at mkurt_76@yahoo.de ....
KEEP ON STUDYING, you'll do great!!!

by the way, berlin (thats where my testing centre was) is a really cool city!

  #125

It's already 10 o'clock and I haven't started yet, oh god, today I'm gonna work on pharm, 15 days to go.
