Hi,

I am located in Germany, Bonn, already a doctor and working as a resident in surgery. I got married to an American and now I want to know how I can get started. Which books or CDs are the best, where do i get them from? How long does it take to pass the exams if I am also working in the meantime? After I pass the exams, how do I find a Job in the states? Can anybody help me?

Hello!
First off, you have to go to the ECFMG webpage to find out which is the pathway you have to take, if you hadn't graduated yet I think you have to either restart or at least retake your residence here in the States.
You have to start studying for Step 1 or Step 2, you can take either one first. If you are taking step 1 first, I recommend the book first aid for the USMLE step one. I also studied with the Kaplan's review books and question bank on the web (not the best, but it helps). I also have some Lippincott series (review books) and the Appleton and Lange review book. If you want, you can do a web search with google for finding out if you can get them in Germany.
Hope the info was helpful.
Good Luck!!!
