as for me, after all that determination to stay in the circle, my plans went 'plop' by the time we got home after the closing yesterday. it took away a good part of the day and i was truly exhausted by the time we got back. so decided to hit the sack early and get up early in the morning to study, but once again, i was disappointed in myself - the alarm kept snoozing and seemed to have no effect on me. i'm so mad at myself. 
i probably should stop fooling myself coz i know i can never get up early in the morning - at least not to study!
anyway, like target, i'll try to do whatever i can and stop regretting all the time that is lost.

So ZEE u didn't study????? OK so u have more to do today. Yesterday's and today Chap.15.U'll be just a few hours behind and will catch up or we can imagine u in another time Zone.............Try finishing it if u can ok....maybe do !5 first...so u get in the mood.

3 ; A policeman brings an alcoholic to the ER and asks the physician to take a sample of his gastric contents for lab.test , by putting nasogastric tube. The patient refuses nasogastric tube. What should the physician do?
4 : Can a physician provide sterile needles to IV drug users ?
5 : A 20 yr old woman with complete placenta previa refuses cesarean section . Baby is full term and healthy. What will be the next step ?

Life saving treatment is allowed in children even if parents refuse it.
2.2 : A 16 yr old boy comes to you for the treatment of STD ( sexually transmitted disease ) and requests you not to tell his parents. What would you do ?
Respect the boy's request.The issue is confidentiality.
3.3 ; A policeman brings an alcoholic to the ER and asks the physician to take a sample of his gastric contents for lab.test , by putting nasogastric tube. The patient refuses nasogastric tube. What should the physician do?
Do not do it. Pt consent??
4 : Can a physician provide sterile needles to IV drug users ?
Y not? I am not sure.
5.5 : A 20 yr old woman with complete placenta previa refuses cesarean section . Baby is full term and healthy. What will be the next step ?
Get a court order and go ahead with operation. PP is a medically clear cut indication for CS to minimize risk to both mother and fetus.

Hey UNIQUE first 3 i agree with PRO.4 why sud we as doc. not use them we if we need too...it's about proper disposal but I guess u meant giving it to them that's a NONo.
6. I think it's her body so she can refuse treatmeant...don't know if that's changed ecause of that case there was of a mother losing her child by refusing c/s.
this was good...keep it up guys.............STAY with the family and flow.

ok guys let me give the questions a try, for question 1,23 and 5 i agree with proctalgia but for question 4 i think the answer is a yes, but this is after the doctor has discussed all the risks involved with i.v drug usuage.

Hi Guys,
Though I am stuck with chapter one of Beh Sc EPIDEMIOLOGY....errr I hate it I will try to guess the answers from my sixth sense and old rusted knowledge.
1. Don't do it coz mother has refused and since she is minor mother has every right.
2. He is adolescent so I think doc shouldn't tell.
3. I think since policeman has brought so he must have papers from court or law to do it so it must be done but how??
4. Yes he can if he suspects that patient won't stop and may be at risk for HBV or HIV
5. Baby is another life and she just can't kill her so take a court order and do it.
Tell me guys what to do with chapter one and two I am really stuck!!!!!!!!!!

Hey oldkid, you do not have to read chapter 1&2 yet. We did not start Beh.Sc. from the 1st chapter as per mytime's suggestion. She gives us the next days target the night before. Until now we have done chapters 7,8,9,10 and 15. It is chapter 3 for today. I guess you would like to start with chapter 3 today
Guys all of you did a great job with qs., especially PROCTALGIA , who answered 100% correct. Give a big hand to him......
1 : Physician should give her blood transfusion. If a competent adult refuses life saving measures , the physician has to respect the patients decision but in case of minors he has do what patient's best interest is.
2 : Doctor should not tell the parents and treat the boy.
3 : Physician should not put nasogastric tube without patient's concent. Policeman cannot dictate the physician what to do.
4 : Yes , he can... to reduce the risk of hepatitis and HIV. The drug abuser should be reffered to appropriate health facilities along with providing needles.
5 : Physician should get the court orders for the procedure.
In this case it is not only patient but another life is involved. The baby is otherwise healthy and it is clear that the baby will be lost if the procedure is not performed . The patient can decide for her/his life but not for the other life . In question 1 also, the doctor has to give the blood transfusion to the child for the same reason.

hi everybody, its nice to see everybody in a spirit , studying B.sc. cool.
IT seems all the superdads and supermoms are doing wonderful job.
I wish I could keep pace with you guys, but I am sincerely trying, just try to catch up as much as my situation allows, there are days when I get disturbed because I am human being, but then I THINK I am not going to give it up besides breaks in studies or slow speed managing my other duties in life, I am going to do it.
I am doing micro DVD, with jawetz, I am waiting for micro KLN.

yea oldkidontheblock, guess i joined in while you were on AWOL, actually been following the thread but the bsc stuff really got me interested in and i decided to join in and am glad i did.
have not really introduced myself to the group even though mytime did a little of that for me cos we usuallly meet up every friday here in houston for live study revision so she knows me personally.didnt go today , 2nd week ina row and am sure she would punish me but i really couldnt help it.
well i am an IMG graduated in 2004, not so newly married any more,just started studying and so far has only been able to complete my biochemistry/genetics, immunology,hoping to take the exam some time before the 2nd half of next year.
guess thats a bit of some introduction, and thanks for welcoming me.

Rashmi verma , do not worry dear. It is very normal to feel this way. It is overwhelming to do so much at a time . Do not worry about the speed. Just do not give up and keep doing your best. The almighty watches us all the time and knows who is working hard. You will get the sweetest reward in the end InshaAllah.
