Hi Everyone & new frds ... SSS all have a grt wk ahead .
NV ... well , physio can say done understanding , but reading part still need to do .
So am waiting for u since getting sick [ had worse winter ever here ] off on with cold & busy day life, fm , so suppose to read physio rt after done understanding , any how , now move on bioch that same situation as physio .
So next subjs would b on , while try my best to read previous one .
But NV do with Qs since , qs have lots to learn too especially the physio .
Keep up the momentum is the Key   
See u around , later , will b really busy this 2 wk , so bare with me if no reply .

Hi I am an IMG from Mexico in LA, I studied in UAG 2004 if there is some one out there that is intereted in a study partener just let me know, at the moment I have a family and job so as you can see, I am going a bit slow, I study about (4hrs per day, every day) but anyway I already finished 3 kaplan books, and first aid, still 4 more books to go, if sombody is interested in a dedicated study partner let me know, I also have Material Kaplan Books, First Aid, Kaplan Video Lectures, Goljan hi yield facts, Goljan Audio. hi everyone
hi marcos81, welcome, what subject are you reading right now?
Hey you guys, a couple of friends just suggested to me, since I have not been able to advance with physio, they suggested that I studied system wise, and for example finish cardio physio, path, pharm, embriology, histology and anatomy of the heart, and then do the same for respiratory etc.....I have never contemplated this approach, do you think it is wise to study this way????

Hi Novak,
Nice to see you. I think it is a good way to study since you will know the anatomy well enough to know how things work and what drugs act where in normal physiological and pathological situations. I have tried RS and CVS and it was good. You never know what works for you till you try it. Good luck! Cheers.  hi target!!......what is RS and CVS? Ok, I will system wise for a change, and will post how it goes. You sound like you are doing great target!, good for you, finished gen path and know advancing in patho, that is so great, keep going, hopefully I will also post positive things about my studying during the week.
Hey you guys, I agree with Target, drop by more. Just so that we know you are fine and studying your ass off LOL upps, now that I read this don't like how the word ass sounds sorry, but you understand what I mean right?
Ok, you guys good night, tomorrow will try to study from 11 in the library and since it closes at 1, I will go to eat and re-start at home.
I am looking for a new job and I have given my curriculum in 4 places, and no one has called back! It is tougher than I thought to get a job, yeesh, so I better hurry up and do this exams sooon soon soon, ok, you guys, good night and God bless!

So target, jena99 and I will start systemwise studying for cardiovascular. We were thinking in finishing it by this Satuday 22nd, do you think we can target?, or should we leave more days to cardiovascular?? How do we do this?

Jena, Novak, I am thinking let us keep tentatively 1 week for each system (Anat physio - 2 days , path - 3days , weekend Pharm and whatever is left unfinished. Depending on how vast the system is we can take 2 days more (9 days total) or if it is less 2 days less ( 5 days). Let us take it from there ....any suggestions or alternate strategies welcome.
Novak there is no question of "can we?" .......this is our year " we can" and we should. Mytime, sweetie we are thinking of you. Best wishes. Love ya!

Hi, I am still doing physiology part. Target, Novak, wht about you?
I got a question here:
Action potential of a ventrivular fiber
phase 1 : voltage gated K channels begin to open(FA)
Phase 2: plateau --- Ca influx balance K efflux
Phase 3: rapid repolarization------massive K efflux due to opening of voltage gated K channels
So, when does the voltage gated K channel close? Plateau? And this channel keep opening on phase 0,1,3,4? On the KLN, “the channel begin to reopen during the latter part of the plateau phase”, but on the FA, “voltage gated K channels begin to open during phase 1”. I got confused. Which one is correct?

Hi jena, I read this in 3 books, and they say what kaplan lectures say that:
Regarding the voltage gated potassium channels, depolarization is the signal to close these channels, they will be closing during the depolarization phase and will be closed during the main part of the plateau phase. They begin to reopen during the latter part of the plateau phase and continue to reopen during repolarization.
So,
Phase 0: sodium fast channels open, voltage gated k channels closed.
Phase 1: Closing of Na channels, brief efflux or outward current of K but this is favored by both chemical and electrical gradients. Remember that there are ungated K channels always open and unless the membrane potential reaches the K equilibrium potential there is always going to be an efflux, because at this point the membrane potential is near the equilibrium potential of Na.
Phase 2: Influx of Ca, voltage gated K channels close but there is an efflux through the ungated K channels.
Phase 3: Repolarization, Ca channels close, K gated channels reopen and there is a large K efflux.
Phase 4: Resting membrane potential. Is due to removal of excess sodium and removal of the excess calcium.
