the types of glial cells are astrocytes, microglia, oligodendrucytes, and ependymal cells. I dont remember where in the notes , in the kaplan Anatomy notes they mention that astrocytes proliferate in response to CNS injury. So from the options Glial cells is the only choice.

A) Ependymal cells ..... they DIEE... just like dr. goljan says so they die when there is any insult to them B) Fibroblasts ........ there are no fibroblasts in brain tissue....strange isnt it? :P C) Glial cells ........ yes they are there...and the reaction to injury is called GLIOSIS...usually takes place in 3 months with a well developed scar in 6 months time.... the astrocytes are the ones that take part in it in which the astrocytes change to protoplasmic astrocytes and become a gliotic mass...that causes seizures, focal neurological deficit and many other things D) Multinucleate giant cells ...... yups they are macrophages that come into play JUST after the injury and take away all the myelin and debris there.. E) Myofibroblasts ..... dont EVEN THINK ABOUT THAT :P F) Neutrophils
