Why aint it D ... as Gq --- Phospholipase C --- DAG, IP3 and Ca+ ... So why IP3 and not DAG ?

Phospholipase C hydrolyzes PIP2, a phosphatidylinositol, into two second messengers, inositol triphosphate (IP3) and diacylglycerol (DAG).
IP3 stimulates the release of calcium ions from the smooth endoplasmic reticulum while DAG is still membrane associated and activates protein kinase C (PKC).
