Dear DJS
Sorry havent been, seen or applied to Saginaw.But have seen this at a respectable University Hospital. Came as a shock to me.I agree with Wamba.But let me put my point this way. To a program director you as an IMG are an unspecified, unknown entity. They do not know your medical school, your mode of instruction there, your abilities or even your communication skills. (I met an IMG who could barely put a sentence together in English and had flunked his CS twice- he was very rich or twas sheer perseverance.!)So when they have had a good experience with past graduates from your school they are comfortable. This happened to me as my school has a tie up with a famous university...but I certainly believe that the places mentioned/refered to take it to the extreme.Beyond all this you are what you are wamba...yes.Knowing a person or a school just gives you that little extra push. Nothing more.And when you get reject letters saying" we do accept interview selection process is sometimes a bit arbitrary" from you know where , that push matters.Thats my TC.

my school is a relative unknown in the world of aiims and aga khan.
the school name helps a lot. esp if u want a call from baylor, uab and other powerhouses.
u cant help it.
anyways the finish line is 1 month away. time to get real gone again on the road.
hey CARS rocks and sheryl crow is amazing in the opening song. always was a cartoon fan

bliz, basically unique features of their program, i would say encouraging you to rank their program but the letters not too personal except for adressing me by first name... then the rest of the letter seems very generic.. although it did came from the program director

gulliermo: that sounds like one of those general letters they send out to everybody...programs do that to ensure applicants rank them so they don't go unfilled...
