residency kit is step by step actions you need to take to have success for getting residency...THANKS SRF! Is this kit good?Wondering if I should get one of these many products available... Wow, apurva...MRCP...no offence, but dude, why on earth do you wanna get an MRCP and apply to residency in the US all in the same breath? I mean, I can understand safety nets, but seriously....I have known MRCPs moving on to the US, but you are the first guy I have met sailing 2 boats (hboats..heck, they are more like royal cruise ships!) in 2 different directions! No offense at all,,,you just got me curious!Goodluck for wherever life takes you!

I second that..."your money will cut you off"...given the inherent IMG insecurity, $$ is the only factor that bars an IMG from applying to every known program existing (anyone "else" applyin to Uni of Alaska??)... Apurva, well, the ladies I met never actually did tell me anything about the complex co-relation that allegedly exists between the number of degrees and "attractiveness" (ok, am being politically appropriate, if not correct!)..maybe I will get to hear your side of this story someday over a beer! Cheers!

Jaja... Certainly an impresive cv can attract quite attention, but I think is like entering the Match... there is not a single, but the sum of many factors that puts you on good track... Does anyone know if an USLOR from one specialty is useful for another specialty... for instance an anesthesio one to apply to IM? On the same token... an observership in surgery to apply to IM? What do you think?

Isther, tx for bringn this up. Also, how does one ask the doctor(if not well-versed with writing LORs) to format it in an 'individualised' way? Is it appropriate to gv examples thru net print-outs or construct one on our own and give in for editing/signing? doc_apurva, dude ur ruining the image of other MCPs. Claiming to be one and then driving the racecourse collecting degrees all in the name of them ladies affections;o) GL for step3 results, holla at ya soon.

to doc2378 - im a shade under 6 feet and everyday thank god for making me physically disproportionate.. otherwise i wud have been 11feet life - u can defin have my verison of the story.. but im the guy who sells whisky but sticks to his coke.. am drunk 24/7/365 - need no drug to get me high.. lol bliz is right not to apply to a place where u never want to go and to always keep crappy progs in backup lest u dont make it to ur dream place.. till what depth of crap ur willin to go is as per ur personal preference im gonna apply to every ny comm prog worth its salt which takes positions to match.. isther - agreed lots of factors count.. but most of the "material" girls i have come across do gr8 "weighted means" and sadly i dont have much in other departments to boast about yes ur lors for any spec will work for another spec as long as its us.. but be ready to explain ur decison to take exposure in the branch.. adeel i believe had all psychi lors when he matched into rads.. i wish alaska had a uni prog.. just have a small fp place.. wud love to go there though.. im sure their fships wud also not be "hotly" contested.. lol pls pardon my musings.. apurva

Apurva, when I said "over a beer", my reference was to the beer that you would be drinking... , ...I quit alcohol long before I ever started! Anyways, getting back to business, what time do you guys think its best to apply? I mean, I have heard all sorts of responses from guys who have "been there, done that"... some say apply ASAP...16th August, if you can, others say, nah....1st September is more auspicious, and there has been a guy who went on to mention that anything upto 1st October is perfectly ok...
Wonder what might be the right formula...any ideas???

Hmm, well, yeah,,,need to apply anyway, so y not ASAP if one can??I mean, I can see no harm come from that at all...while applying late might not have a real disadvantage, but dont quite know if would be of advantage (except if you are waiting for some kind of paper to get published and want to mention that in yr CV...seems kinda far fetched).. Blitz...football is one passion that has survived intact ever since I decided to wade the wilderness of usmle...you betcha i am watching it (some kool guys are always philantrophic enough to set up internet links et al for guys like me!!)
