D, There is no renal compensation. So HC03- has to be within normal range.

If you are alkalotic via respiration, it would be up.... how high? I don't think that really matters, just above normal

D fore sure altitude-->acute hypoxemia (due to decrease in atmosperic pressure)---> respiratory alkalosis--> we narrow choice C and D. choice C has increase in HCO3 and decrease in PCO2--> mixed alkalosis (respiratory alkalosis and metabolic alkalosis) choice D: decrease in PCO2 and a slightly decrease in HCO3--> acute respiratory alkalosis. other choices are: a.-ph 7.2 pco2 (80) HCO3{30} ACUTE RESPIRATORY ACIDOSIS b.-ph 7.4 pco2 {60} HCO3{34} FULLY COMPENSATED RESPIRATORY ACIDOCIS c.-ph 7.7 pco2 {30} HCO3 {34} MIXED ALKALOSIS d.-ph 7.5pco2{30} HCO3{20} ACUTE RESPIRATORY ALKALOSIS e.-ph7.4 pco2{30} HCO3{16} FULLY COMPENSATED RESPIRATORY ALKALOSIS OR METABOLIC ACIDOSIS f.-ph7.2 pco2{30} HCO3{10}: ACUTE METABOLIC ACIDOSIS g.-ph7.0 pco2{20}HCO3{4} ACUTE METABOLIC ACIDOSIS
