I want you to study very hard so you can get into one of the best programs in the world.

I as an international medical student had so much chance to witness the history of medicine.

As a medical student, I saw the first Wegner Granulomatosis patient, who was first diagnoized at Mayo Clinic and return backed to Nashville, Tenneesee.

I witnessed the biggest lie in medicine while sitting at the conference room at Harvard medical school listening to the OBGYN Professor hard-selling estrogen replacement therapy for post-menopausal women in 1987. (The research was biased and samples were selected wrong and tens of thousands of women developed breast and endometrial cancer and died)

History repeated itself from 1950-1971 when OBGYN doctors were using DES for prevention of abortion and the offsprings of those who used DES deveoped clear cell vaginal carcinoma.

I read with dismay so many people don't understand learning is a life-long process and you will become a doctor one day but remember keep studying and I spent hours to study and talk to otehr doctors to find out what 's new !

that's an excellent post AAAAA. Very encouraging and realistic. That's medicine, changing, challenging, fascinating. And if we want to be decent doctors, we have to be always updated (=life-long process, doubtless).

I just hope everybody here in the forum gets an excellent education in the residency program they want and be able to contribute to a better healthcare in any country they finally work as an attending physician. That's the most important.

me too love this forum

and i really value all the advices i have got from people on this forum...it really has helped so much in me been able to prepare better for the exam.

and yes agree that medicine is a life long learning experience. thats how it is. and the more you see the patients and manage them in real life...thats what is real medicine and how we can use this knowledge and skills and apply them in real life is real medicine. and for someone like me with not such a vast knowledge, i get to learn a lot of things everyday.

and i too wish that each one of us can become good doctors and contribute to health care and help people. that would be so satisfying.

good luck folks.
