hello every one
i just wanna get your views

so far i have studied anatomy and i am doing physiology now, i sometimes have difficulty deciding which subject to do next, do you think there should be a certain order or hierarchy that one should follow to make studying more productive, and how would you advice me to do it considering how one isubject s related to the other and thus one must come before the other
what hierarchy would you suggest
thank you

if you don't have good prior knowledge, it's logical to study in this order:

anatomy

biochemistry & genetics

physiology

microbiology & immunology

pathology

pharmacology

behavioral science

a little modification. do not get bogged down or discouraged by anatomy if you follow this sequence (if you are not a guru in anat). so just give a specific time frame for each subject and move on so you have a sense of moving on rather than being stuck on a subject!!!

Hi nhjama,

I logged in to the forum today to ask the exact same question!!, jeje.

I was starting with anatomy, but realized that I wasn't advancing, I have done 3 different study timelines by now, and I've only read 1 chapter of physio, 1/2 of biochem, 6 of anatomy, and the time that I had set for each subject ran out so I kept changing subjects without finishing any and I noticed this is what I was doing with anatomy, so I decided to start with behavioral science, since it is less pages, and I think I can finish it in 5 or 6 days, this way hopefully by next week, I can say:" I finished a subject!", and then start again with anatomy.

Another forum member, spitmetal, wrote that he is using the following sequence:

Behavioral Science

Anatomy

Histology

Neuroanatomy

Biochemistry

Immunology

Microbiology

Physiology

Pharmacology

Pathology

Good luck with your studies!

yolanda you are right. the logical way to study may not neccessarily work. i like P53's outline and i was going to do just that. but i know how anat can bog you down and you still dont remember so i started with behav too but switched cos i was not reading the right books. had only kaplan then. so i switched to physiology and pharm cos they are heavily tested. you dont forget physio much. i got bogged down with pharm. moved on to behav, then anat, then bioch, then path. i will need to go back to anat and bioch but i will be close to the exam by then so it should be fresh in my mind.

Hey tolito,

You mentioned that you stopped behavioral science because you didn't have the right books?, I am also just reading from kaplan, which books did you use for BS??

i used brs behav and HY behav. i suppose if you have the kaplan video the lecture notes would be adequate from what peop;e say, but i do not have kaplan video. i knew kaplan was not sufficient for most of the topics cos after having read a topic, i would score 60% in the questions and the answers would not be in the LN. remember though that its baen a while since i did stuff like that so maybe that is why i found kaplan LN behav inadequate.

good luck yolanda
