In the Rapid review pathology book it says that patients who Disseminated intravascular coagulation have bleeding from every orifice. Does that mean that they only bleed from punture places or they bleed from mouth, nose and penis without puntures. Does the patient has to have puntures in the body to bleed from???? plz someone help me out here, thanks.

he does not need to have puncture or wounds to bleed. they just start to pour blood out of all orifices, mouth, nose, anus and also internally just like the book says. if they had surgery prior, then surgical site will just keep oozing blood that will not clot. it is horrible. i once had a patient die following an orringer procedure for esophageal stricture. the mech in that patient was release of tiss thromboplastin from the extensive dissection of the esophagus.

Rendu-Weber-Osler disease [Hereditary telangectasia] could be in this differential diagnosis.
