what is resistant ovary syndrome? does it have other names as well?

Its also called Savage syndrome. It is due to a functional defect in the gonadotrophin receptors on the ovarian follicles and so the ovaries are resistant to exogenous gonadotrphin stimulation as well. The patient may present with primary or secondary amenorrhea.Diagnosis requires that the patient has a normal 46,XX karyotype, normal secondary sexual characteristics, elevated plasma FSH and LH - in the menopausal range - and that normal, multiple follicles are seen on ovarian biopsy. So,you'd see hypergonadotrophic hypogonadism in these patients.

and it is treated with high dose estrogens...which raise LH and induce ovulation...
