Hi guys, I just went throught the CS exam and am shocked about my PN... I decided to go for handwriting - which probably was a bad mistake. But once started I could not change it to PDC any more. With all the time pressure it turned out really hard to read, and it is also quite chaotic... I crossed a lot out and the notes are all anything but not nice to read into. Since I am a IMG and not too long in the US, some language difficulties on top... and many other mistakes that slipped through. I am really worried that I am failing Do you have any experience on this? Any hope for me? I am just so disappointed.

Thank you... it's just not getting out of my mind. And, among many other thoughts: I realized that I did not discuss much on DD because I was mostly not sure what was really going on in terms of the diagnosis. I basically told all patients to first get some more tests done, come back in a week and discuss the DD when the results are there... Kind of talki g myself out off a tricky situation. Do you think that was acceptable?

Hey Arthene, donīt worry - that was fine ! I know itīs always easy for a by-stander to say that, but I didnīt tell my patients anything different and I passed. I always said something like "Okay, Mrs.Smith, hereīs what I would like to do: I would like to get an EKG to see if anything is going on with your heart. I would also like to get some labs done on you - that way weīll be able to see if you have any changes in your electrolytes, for example. I would also suggest we get an X-Ray of your chest done. That way weīll be able to rule out any lung-issues. Are you okay with that, Mrs.Smith ? Now, do you have any further questions or concerns ? No ? Well, then I will go write the orders for your tests, and see you as soon as they are done, and we have the results. It was nice meeting you, Mrs.Smith. Let me know if you need anything. See you later !" I never really got more specific than that. And alot of times I wouldnīt even be able to finish this talk. (Thatīs the reason, btw, why I always counseled my SPs right after they had told me that they smoked, did drugs, etc. - I wanted to make sure I wouldnīt forget to do that, or run out of time.) Donīt worry, Arthene, like Harry said: "cool down, relax and pray" - Iīm sure you did well ! Good luck !

Hi busy_mom , thanks for the chat! ... maybe the patient interaction was OK, however, I took a lot more work-up suggestions down than I discussed with the patient. It just came to my mind then later... I had a terrible night, my brain seems to work out the DD hours later... I tink I missed a lot of things important things out. I really had a hard time with the differential of 'fainting' when I was in the exam room...

First, I would like to reassure you not to worry - worrying will not help with anything, besides getting a stomach ulcer and even this is not for sure ( you also need H. pylori for that one). It's an exam - most of the people feel like s#@@t after an exam. Just cool down and wait for your results. You might have done much better than you think. Right now you are not worrying about a reality, you are worrying about a thought that you have in your head. i have a question

Where can I find info about how the technical details of the exam go i.e. do they give you the info on the SP door also as a printout in the room, do you have to remember everything on the door before entering, etc.

Hi Researchsurviver, ...thanks for the uplifting words (...) Actually yes, you need to remember the info on the board, its not repeated in the room. But when writing the patient note, you can have repeated look at the patient door in front of you if need.

Hi Artene03 I just talked with a friend of mine, who has also hand writen his note with an awfull handwiting and got a Pass result - so see - handwriting and crossing in your note is just one part of the whole exam. Wait for your result. And above all remember - in order to come that far you must have passed many other exams (unless you go to some super exotic Med School where there is no exam after the entering exam). I have a Question: could you please tell me what is PDC - is it PC with a D in the middle? It's probably a silly question, but after all the abreviations I've seen I am confused.
