CPM is a osmotic dysmyelinative disorders usually associated with rapid correction of hyponatremia. It affects the central regions of the pons (often corticospinal and transeverse pontine fibers) with resulstnat quadriparesis with often preserved consciousness. They can also have involvement of basal ganglia bilaterally (extra pontine myelinoysis) with resultant clincial fearures. Medial ponitne is a stroke syndrome.
