hey guys ,i was gonna strt immuno ,yesterday ,but when i saw the lectures that guy is sooo boring ,made mego to sleep.
did anyone go thru it b4,i mean only the kaplan book is enough?
where shd i study it frm basically?
plzz help
i cant decide on a book for micro and immuno
its crazy

The Kaplan lectures seems to very "overview". I like:
"How the Imunne System Works" by Lauren Sompayrac and "Medial Microbiology & Immunology" by Warren Levinson.

i saw the lectures and i read kaplan. Now , looking back, i suggest you do it just from Levinson as kaplan notes are not that good as well. GL

hey guys, dont knock kaplan. i also read 2002 kaplan and mmi. kaplan highlights stuff yuo may gloss over in the bigger books. plus, if you have done mmi, then kaplan is easy. will advise reading kaplan as well.

yes, you should do them (Kaplan + Levinson) in combination - they complement each other.
kaplan isn't bad and it has excellent illustrations - for example, can remember beautiful picture in it about complement - it was looking much like one in the 'gold standard' textbook Janeway's Immunobiology.

thanks alot guys ,for stopping by and giving me ur precious suggestions. i think i definetly shd get levinson now, cz i think kaplan alone wont do it ,and specially in 2005 notes ,now that they added the xtra details at a molecular base,then i shd tak ethat book and tr to get the concepts frm levinson .after all kaplan is just a review book ,not for concepts,specially when it comes to me ,i m very bad at molecular biology and genetics etc.and thses notes have those details abt lymphocytes B and T

hey guys ,can anyone plzz tell me , which book shd i get ,there is a board review and iguess the other one is the big book,which one do u guys suggest. medical micro and immuno by levinson the bord review by lange or the bigbook by lange .and what edition is the latest one , i saw 4th edition and its blue.and the big book is pink.so plzz advice ,what shd i get?

this may seem contrary to what 90 percent of people advice but i thought i'd share it anyhow
the immuno guy yes is very boring but i did make myself go through the lectures.. thought at that time it seemed a waste of time, i realised that my speed and understanding of immuno was way better than others who had quit. if u remember basic stuff in immuno well omit it...but if u find urself stuck at simple concepts do the video. play it at a higher speed. ( and vary the speed if u're gettting really bored) stuff like functions of leukotrienes came to me naturally after doing those painful videos...

iwas confused cz i thought may b noone ever went thru those videos ,i want to be sure that i m not wasting time on it .but thanx to u now i will do them ,ofcurse its going to be boring but ill force my self ,and whne i knw that these r useful ,i sure will do it .

the review...
do ur videos properly and i dont think u wud need a full text bk.. besides towards the end uwill only use the review books....i hope u have kaplan micro too ( get them even if u have the videos)
