Hi,

Do US residency programs require IMGs to show documented proof of working(for a few months) as a junior resident in one's own country? If not able to produce one, what is the alternative?

thanks in advance

a letter from ur supervisor should suffice.. ur internship should be documented as part of ur transcript.. and its part of ur mbbs degree and shouldnt ideally be shown as 1yr clin ex separately in ur eras transcript.. and no they do not compulsorily require prior experience..

i was referring to work experience as a resident doctor....i mean, after internship. Not as part of a proper contract, rather just a few months.....mainly to fill in CV gaps and stay in touch with clinicals. btw, thanks for ur prompt response, as always

as i mentioned before - a letter from the prof whom u worked under for those few months will suffice.. it will come under a separate heading called "residencies and fellowships" in the eras appli..

Residency programs won't ask you to prove it. I can't answer what the licensing board for what ever state you will be apply for will ask you to prove. A letter should be enough, but.....
