I know that Auer rods are seen in the cytoplasm of myeloblasts in AML. But what is an Auer rods?

Can somone plz explain??? thanks

Auer rods are abnormal primary, i.e. azurophilic granules; now, you will, of course, ask what is azurophilic granule; azurophilic granules are lysosomal granules of neutrophils which contain hydrolases, elastase, myeloperoxidase and so on.
