Tricky Q! treatment of diverticulitis is surgery, but it canīt be prophylactic. 5 is obviosly out of the Q. Laxatives and softeners have the same effect, so I guess itīs increasing bulk

4- Increasing bulk... But its more to prevent it that treat it, acute treatment is liquid diet + antibiotics, and as guayoman said surgery is not prophilactic but for complicated cases.
