Is a score of 92/227 considered competitive enough to apply for an internal medicine residency? what percentile would this correspond to when the mean is 220 and SD=23?

hey DrS, that's a very good score. atleast i know many many people with that score and even less than 92 who have been able to get into IM. and as you might be already knowing that there are other things that will matter too...like LOR's and Externships to make the appllication complete so good luck with everything !

It's wonderful to see you again DrS. Anything above 90 is a competitive score. I'm not as clued in on the precise details as the other folks are, but I just feel you'll get there and make a good doctor. While that is of no help as regards the question you've asked, I did want to drop in my good-luck message.

hi Achilles and frontal, thank you so much for the encouraging words! Sorry for the delay in replying as I had unsubscibed from the step 2 boards and didnt get an update on these postings. I do have to thank you guys for all the support and the interesting questions you guys posted which was of tremendous help! My actual step 2 preperation was done in less than 2 months and I had a nightmare time getting to Chennai for my test after running into a 6 hour flight delay etc so I guess i'm pretty happy with my score, cos after taking the test I didnt feel too good about it at all.
Anyways I'm sure you guys will soar to even greater heights and all the very best! As for me its back to basic sciences as I start my Step 1 prep, and I have no idea where to even start!
Once again a big thank you to you guys and all the others who have contributed to make this a truly wonderful forum.

Hi everyone. my step 1 score is 90/222 and step 2 score is 82/201.could i be able to get residency in internal med.? seems to me difficult.i also plan for step 3 near
20th september.will that matter?

Hi, DrS! Great to see you yet again! You've really done a lovely job with 2ck especially considering that you took ck first and your ill-luck with the flight. I hope you do great in Step 1 too. I hear it is tougher than Step 2. Your prior experience with the exam should help. I will take my exam in December. Thanks for your wishes.
