Hi everyone, I need help on this.i'm an IMG,graduated more than 5 yrs ago and planning to take step1 in 3 months. Is it really doable?I have Kaplan lecture notes,Qbook and webprep(lectures), FA, Goljan materials and plan to get kaplan Qbank. Can one realistically finish all these in 3 months.I'm even confused where to start;read first aid first or go thru the kaplan notes first.if the materials are too many, what should i cut off?can anyone help with a realistic schedule?I've been postponing this exam for a long time but i need to match in 2007. Pls advice. How do i make this possible?your thoughts will be highly appreciated.

Dear Z, I am also taking my exam in three months. End of August to be percise. I have the same question as you. It would be greatlyy appreciated if people who have done it before could help. Also I think you should read your notes and refer to FA to make sure you are focusing on the right material. Anything is do-able. You can do it! Just open any book and start. I feel starting is the toughest part but once you do that you should be ok. GOOD LUCK! Also is it just me or does everyone feel like chaging their exam date even before they start studying. I am going to start today and I already feel like post poning my exam. The not to good part is that my eligibility period finishes on August 31st. What should I do?

Hi zalato, I am actually at work right now and can't write a lot, but I am also planning to do step 1 in 3 months, I read the following link: http://www.prep4usmle.com/forum/comments.php?id=3... Maybe this can help u more. Also you can read sharvil posts on how to get a 99 in step 1. Friends have told me that you need at list 5 to 6 months to prepare, but it all depends on you, and your study habits, you can try to prepare in 3 months, like I am, and do the NBME test 3 weeks before your date and if you score low you can re-schedule the exam but if you have a high grade you can go for it and do the exam. I'll write more later, take care and good luck. By the way, I am starting with Anatomy.

Thank you Octospider and Yolanda. I'm glad to know i'm not the only one venturing this like i'm attempting the impossible. Since its doable, i will have to try my best then. i will start with first aid to get a quick overview before narrowing down on the subjects. problem is i'm not such a fast reader. Are u doing practice questions(tutor mode) while studying or waiting to finish the subjects before starting questions?some say if i keep waiting for when i finish reading, i may not have time before my exam to go thru a lot of questions as questions give u an idea of the kind of things to expect. Good luck to us all.
