Is anyone aware of background check being done in India or Canada when you go to get your J1 VISA? If so, approximately, how long does it take? Your help is greatly appreciated.

I did have BG check tools from http://www.backgroundcheck-explorer.com, Why pay Investigators up to $50 per search when we can conduct your own search / investigation with in your own home, when they provide all the tools.

it will take anytine between 4-6 weeks,they do this check when the name sounds familiar with any terrorist names and for every i think (am not sure) 1000 th application or so.
So dont worry u shud hear from them within b=next few weeks ,you can ring them and explain to them and ask if they have your passport back?
they r bound to give u an answer specially if they have ur passport.
Hope u get ur passport with visa stamped soon.
