Hi all, Needed some advice plz, from step2 preppers and ex-preppers. I am still at the very beginning stages of my step2 prep. As of now, iam only on Kaplan lecture notes. Its the same old story...unable to pick up pace, way behind schedule etc. At this desperate stage, I was considering subscribing online to Usmleworld..for 1 month only though. Apart from it being good on the wallet, it shd also help compel myself to finish Step2 as early as possible(hopefully!). Is it advisable to do usmleworld before reading the notes?? Wud be helpful to read ur suggestions on this. thanks, good luck.

Hi drk, as you know, I´m not a 99 candidate; but I found that doing UW qs not only motivated me to pick up my studying pace, but was also alot more fun than just reading the books. And from what I´ve read on some of the posts here, many people use it as a study tool, and not just as a review. So my personal opinion is: if you´re not happy with what you´re getting done right now, subscribe to UW. After all, if you end up finishing the qs, and want more practice qs, there´s still always Kaplan´s qbank... GL with your studying - keep it up !

Hey drk, I'd say start doing UW as of now.I started it late during my first read and wished I had done it earlier. Most of the stuff is covered in the Kaplan text but it gets so monotonous just reading it all that you end up missing important stuff.... like busy_mom said... it keeps you on your toes.I've hit rock bottom plenty of times during my prep and I feel doing questions helps.UW should definitely be taken as a learning tool though...the questions are tough but the explainations are stellar! GoodLuck!

Hey, thanks you both! U wrote exactly what i wanted to read cyra, all the best for ur exam! I guess my rock bottom moments were more often than my actual prep time(!!). i'm gonna try and study from Qs now as much as possible, and maybe fit in some time in between for reading notes. lets hope ths works... busy_mom, surely ur in a far more prestigious place now than just wth a 99. good luck wth ur residency!

You're welcome drk... A word of caution here though...I'd advise you to go through UW along with your kaplan notes.I am sorry I didn't mention it in my previous post(for some reason I answered thinking you meant should you start UW wtih your first read or not?) but I think you'd be able to make the most of and retain more if you make connections and correlate between your notes and UW.You could ,say read up a subject/topic and go through questions pertaining to that and make notes...I just think it will not only break the monotony but also make information stick better this way.

...i realised it wud be throwing caution to the wind.....hence the specific post-title, lol. no shortcuts here i suppose. i hear you.. reading notes, atleast topic-wise, while working on UW is a more efficient method. will do. gl, thanks again.
