if im doing a transitional year residency this year, what are my option for 2007. does eras let my apply for pgy2 positions for 2007 this upcoming fall? can i go straight into second year of anesthesia in 2007? what else can i do with a transitoinal year this year? thanks for your help

No, you will be applying for anesthesiology program for 2008.. Unless you can find an empty slot (through phone calling, findaresident, etc)... You will apply for 2008, and you will have a year of nothing in between (it's very common for this to happen, you could find research, or do a pgy-2 year, or just do nothing..)
You should be calling up programs and trying to find a 2007 spot anyway you can (especially talk to the anesthesiology pd where you are doing transitional)... If you don't have anything definite, be sure to apply on Sept 1st so at least you will have something for 2008. Also, discuss continuing on as a pgy-2 (either medicing or surgery) with your transitional pd in case you don't match.
pgy 1 is post graduate year 1...
