hello everyone....I usually dont post on this forum...but here is my exam experience...I thought It would help someone on here
exam date : april 10
score updated: may 4
found out I PASSED yesterday after taking 2 weeks vacation
I did not check OASIS due to errors that I heard on here and there
NBME FORM 1 - 530
NBME FORM 2 - 450
NBME FORM 3 - 570
SOURCES : kaplan notes + DVD, crush step 3 (the best for me)
QUESTIONS : UW(good), qbank, qbook, pretest(excelent) and MOCK
will be over step 1 forum now...already passed CS....

Hey Intern_Doc,
thanks for your excellent Exam Experience !!! And congratulations on passing ! Though given your NBME results, itīs no big surprise. Have you received your score yet ? I would be interested in finding out whether it correlates with your NBMEs, and if so, with which one. Anyway, thank you so much again, and good luck for your Step 1 !
Btw: I would have gone for choice "A" - am guessing you chose "E": "A & D" ?

the pretest clinical vignette is very close to the real thing...also the physical diagnosis/ob/ped/medicine
I dont have the vignette on PDF file...but I think I have the rest on PDF...give me your email..if i find it i will sent it to you.....

ok guys I took the test yesterday..
Want to thanks everyone on the forum for discussion.
About the exam...there were ONLY 10 I dont know...LOL...just kidding. well, it was DOABLE...but tough must said
My test was mostly INTERNAL...yes INTERNAL...INTERNAL ...INTERAL...let me break it down to system wise in the order of important
INTERAL 60%, PED 10%, SURGERY 10%, OB/GYN 10%, the rest
INTERNAL = they ask mostly etiology, mechanism, pathophys...for almost everything...and the way they ask is very basic..that throw me off sometimes. The way the words is worded sometime confusing. Know your heart mechanism of disease, VSD, ASD, PDA, coartation, dilated cardiomyop, know the diff b/t constrictive pericarditis Vs. restrictive cardiomyop, know the mechansims of hypotension in shock, got 4 EKG (recognized 3 and the 4th one looks like a worm to me...I have no clue), most questions start of w/old guys with SOB and weight loss, alots of POST-op complication...oh my gosh..like 20 questions, post MI complication, post this and post that...gosh damn...lots of quesionts like 2-3 days later, or week later, know your respiratory WELL...I mean well...they are heavily tested...probably more than cardio, out of the internal med questions 50% were probably ask for next step in management or next step in diagnosis, GI was big, achalasia, GERD management, esophageal CA, jaundice, jaudice, jaudice, jaundice.....yes and jaundice...know EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS...I am sicking tired of jaundice, know when to add PEEP, decrease it or increaed it, same for FIO, when to turn off or on..those stuff was ask alots,and lastly PLEURAL EFFUSION, PLEURAL EFFUSION...yes heavily tested (10 questions total)
PEDS = know every damn rash out there, almost every baby is present with rash, fever, cough, ...so know the differential diagnosis, lots of limping, septic arthritis, 2 milestones,
SURGERY = mostly trauma, cant said much, 4 xray, 1 CT, 1 leukemia histo yes..
OB/GYN = 3rd tri bleeding, the clues they give is very weird, so know teh atypical presentation (ex. abruptio can present painless....if it's concealed), HELLP, know the ob chart, I was suprised to see that, lots of gyn effection, and it was not your ordinary infection...(1 question mention "golf size ball lesion in the vulva, and ask for the underlying"), CIN management, hydatiform mole,
PSY = heavily tested, touch almost every topics, questions were mixed with pharm (ex. give presentaton then asked how where does this drug work...wow...2-3 step), autism, asperger, anorexia, NORMAL behavioral, 2 questions concerning about mechanical ventilation
BIOSTAT = probably 10 questions total, ask mostly bias, or they give a study and you have to figure it out, very confusing, know control study, cohort, effect of prevalence on NPV and PPV
study kaplan notes, DVD
question bank = qbank, qbook, MOCK, pre-test (very good), USMLE (da best)
ok...I dont know how I did...I just hope that I pass with a 75+. Feels free to ask me anthing...well..let just said almost everything...
now what should I do...
A. get drunk
B. check for answer
C. study step 1.
D. strip club...
hmmnn...can I get a vote please
study hard everyone
