51 yr old patient comes to the emergency with status epilepticus.What will be the first step of management?
1.diazepam/phenytoin IV
2.Bolus dextrose
3.ensure airway
4.pentobarbital coma
Plz explain this as well"U MUST GIVE IV THIAMINE AFTER DEXTROSE BOLUS".

3.ensure airway.

(thiamine is given before/with glucose cause if the patient is thiamine deficient or may be borderline defecient his symptoms of thiamine defeciency(wernickes encephalopathy) will be precipitated or aggravated by giving glucose. Glucose will start krebs cycle in cells and thiamine is important component of certain regulatory enzymes like Pyruvate Dehydrogenase )
