can someone please help me out? i am wonderfully confused by catalase and superoxide dismutase. they are used by lysosomes to destroy bacteria. they are also referred to as scavengers of superoxides?????

ok i write what i know and someone pleeeeease tell me if i got it right.
superoxide dismutase neutralises o2 free radicals by forming H2O2 whiich is broken down by catalase to hydroxyl and water. the other guys like glutathione take care of teh hydroxyl group???? coincidentally h2o2 is used by the MPO system for killing bact.

IN neutrophils
1- NADPH oxidase convert normal o2 to superoxides
2-superoxide convert to peroxide h2o2 by superoxide dismutase
3-h202 converted to hypoclorus free radiccals hocl by myeloperoxidase . hocl which kill bacteria
some bacteria has defeance mechanism protect it self from being destroyed after it be engalphed by neutrophils , it consume the superoxidase produced in second step and degrade it ,so it stop the process of bacteria killing by neutrophil , bacteria stop that step by catalase

thanks moslem doctor but it is the body's scavenging system for the superoxides produced by tissue injury that was the reall bummer. can you help out there? thanks.
