This one has been discussed before, but I found that people still vary on the right answer? Can we discuss it again and come to an agreement on the right answer?

BIOCHEM RXNS

ΔG0'

V ↔ W – 4.0

W ↔ X +0.4

X ↔ Y – 3.4

Y ↔ Z + 5.7

From the values of ΔG0' given in the table, which compound in the overall metabolic pathway V ↔ W ↔ X ↔ Y ↔ Z will accumulate in the largest amount at equilibrium?

A) V

B) W

C) X

D) Y

E) Z

Y, this q has been discussed many times and answer is still controversial.

Reaction V-Y accumulates -7 so I choose it.

I THINK ANSWER IS D

-ENERGY MEANS IT IS A SPONTANEOUS REACTION,BUT +MEANS THE RECTION PROCEEDS BACKWARDS.SO I THINK ITS Y.

  #4

W=V-4
X=W+0.4
Y=X-3.4
Z=Y+5.7

So YY has the lowest entropy and is the most stable one

  #5

-4+0.4-3.4+5.7=-1.3

So v converts to z and we have accumulation of z

answer is E for sure

E.

It's D; each reaction is bidirectional so condensing the reaction into one equation isn't exactly appropriate in this case. (In other words, suppose you DO build up Z...wouldn't the -5.7 on it convert it right back to Y??)
