Hello,
I have just finished step 1. And now i am planning to give step 2CK in last week of august or first week of september. I have heard rumours that a person should apply in ERAS atleast in august or latest in september. I am worried because i would not be able to give my exams in july, because i need time to prepare. I am a kaplan student. Can anyone guide me, how should i begin, so that i complete everything in the 3 months i have. IF you are a kaplan student, can you help me that which books are good and which bad. Which lecturers are good and which bad. And what question banks to take. Thanks.

Hi Lakshya
I adv you to have a look at sharvils and KIngs of KE post they had been very usefull to most of us .Do usmleworld and kaplan simulated they are very much like real exam questions.

Well , its best to have been ECFMG certified while applying in september. If Not
Its better if you have step1 and step2ck scores while applying in september.If Not
You can apply with just step1 score and the programs might call you with your pending status cause they dont have to make an immediate decision.
Is it better to apply early with just step 1 score or rather wait till you have step2 score and then apply?
honestly i still cannot answer that. (ask in the match forum and someone who had been through this match might answer.) I can tell you what i would like to do. I will apply early with whatever i have, And in ERAS i will allow them to have my transcript as soon as my step2ck and/or cs result is anounced (you should understand that there is a risk here. They will get the result before you ,whatever it is. But then you will be going to give them your score anyway whatever it is. So either dont apply or if apply then let them see your score asap.) And add to it one more thing that you can start applying on 1st september but your application my not be downloaded by the program till sometime; lets say even till the end of september.
As for how to prepare step2ck, there are a lot of good posts around here. you can also try looking for one of my old post called step2ck preparation.

well kingsofke ,i got my step 2 cs date on august 29 th , and is there anything i gotta prepare ???will 2 days be ok to get everything ready to apply on september 1 st , i mean is there any paperwork needed to apply ???if yes i will try to prepone my cs date

I dont know a lot about that kar. what i do know is that ECFMG acts as our Deans Office; meaning that all our documents will be sent by ecfmg to the program. Which they will have in scanned form . But to scan they will need Photocopies of our documents. So we will have to register in NRMP , register in ERAS (take a token) and send good photocopies of all the required documents (address is probably on ERAS website), select programs we want to apply to. Now i actually dont know the exact time line of these things. I just read in some post that token are issued from 1st july onwards, And i think i read (not sure) that you can start sending your documents 15 days or so before 1st september. Remember it will take like 5-10 days by ECFMG AFTER recieving your documents to actually upload them. And the mail will take its own damn time.
So in short there is a lot we had to know about this process and its time line if we want to be among the first ones. I will look into it after i get my visa.
