I just wanna ask if you know the exact meaning of scores in usmle for example when you say 99/256 what does it mean and what is the range of scores

Is there score distribution/histogram for national scores. I looked on the google could not find it. I thoght I remember seeing a bell shape curve for step 2 score somewhere. anyone know?
