Hi,
I'm an IMG currently living in California. Recently I found that in order to apply for California an IMG needs to have the letter from the medical board.
Did anybody apply for this letter ?

Thanks !

Hi new IMG,

can you be a little more specific? What exactly do you apply for in California? I m shure someone can help. Hang in there...

Hi there,
I'm in Southern California and 100% IMG too.
http://www.medbd.ca.gov/ is the Medical Board of California website where you can download the forms for the IMG to apply for the letter. I called them too and they said it's gonna take up to 6 months since you apply to get the letter. Since it's a must to have it to apply in California I guess this is one of the reason the most IMGs are on the eastern coast.
You nedd to pass both step 1 and 2 in order to apply. Unfurtunately I had the surprise to find that because I graduated after 1998 I will need to complete a Family Medicine clerckship and I tried couple of Local universities without any success till now.

Keep in touch !

Hey Guys,
From the certificate of medical education form (MBOC), it seems that your school certifies if you have taken the stated list of rotations. Many curriculums have rotations in community medicine or something similar. Any ideas if this would be consider as a family medicine rotation???
All of these forms are confusing.
I'm still not ECFMG certified, but I'd like to start with the Cali letter process ASAP. Besides working on my certification, what part of the process should I start?? Request transcripts?? Pay fee?? If request transcript directly to Medschl, where should they send the copies???

NEED SUGGESTIONS. Tx

The EBAHR/Transcript should be sent only to the Med Board of CA?There is another place to send it?

  #18

Hi,
It might take 6 months to get the CA letter, I can not predict in your case how long it is gonna take. The EBAHR is a form that can be found at www.fsmb.org (click on "Transcript Request" link)
Regards!
