Dear friends,

L et us make a layman's term list. please add to following list.

percussion = tapping. auscultation= listening ,superficial palpatation =lightly touching

deep palpatatuion = deeply touching, anterior= push up ,posterior =push down

adduction=push in, abduction= push out,

pedal Edema----water retention

percussion lungs or abdomen......checking for gas or water retention.

JVD......neck veins

radiation= moves, seizures=shaking, abdomen=stomach or belly

did u ever had a tummy ache?

to a kid perhaps,
instead of Do you get 'nausea'?= Do you feel like 'throwing up'?

DO we have to use layman's term to explain diagnostic posibilities to the SP?

yes we do,....plus we can say swelling of feet fr pedal edema...wht say?

endoscopy=tube with camera to look at the lining of stomach-----is this correct?
