PreTest series for step 1 is a total waste of time. The best one among them - 'PreTest Pathology' (by the same author who wrote 'Kaplan Lecture Notes: Pathology'), is at best mediocre - 'Robbins and Cotran Review of Pathology' is much, much better for pathology MCQs - imagine how bad are other books in this series.

sorry, if I was too critical - can't comment on bss - ask people who have done it. maybe I have mentioned 'Robbins and Cotran Review of Pathology' too many times, but I just think that it's the perfect standard to which all other MCQ resources should be compared - it's a sad, sad situation on the market that many authors write MCQ resources for the USMLE prep, which aren't even a bit close to the real USMLE, neither in the content, nor in the style.

for microbiology I did mcqs from Levinson, for pharmacology - from Katzung. Guyton & Hall have released new USMLE-style MCQ review book 'Guyton Physiology Review', by Hall, 2005, 288p.

dear lci...my sources for practice q were only kaplan q book, online q bank 1 month, nms step 1 review, pretest patho, robbins rapid review for patho and physio q bank...i cant really recommend any sources other than these as i havent used them.......but i really believe if u can go thru all these and read thru ur study material till u master the concepts(no.of times u read the notes is totally upon u!!!) u shud be in pretty good shape....as p53 rightly pointed out there r many q sources in the market but not reallly matching the exam either in style or content.....all this is MY opinion.....u can use as u please >>. kulmur.....i got my hands on the 2nd edition of klatts book...ppl tell me its pretty different from the first edition but im not really sure...sorry
