hi to everyone in this forum.i ve applied for a b1/b2 visa for step2 cs exam. Now in the form i have mentioned that the purpose of visit is for the cs exam and that duration of stay would be 1 month.i ve a couple of questions and it would be great if someone could help me out

1. shld i increase or decrease the period i ve written for duration of stay

2. is it that once given a b1/b2 visa one can stay for a min of 6mths

3. what are the likely questions that they may ask me...it would be of help to me as i ve no idea on how to approach the interview and i am already feeling anxious about the whole thing.

plz advise me and if there is anythng other than the above that i have mmissed, plz do tell me

hi

once you have the visa stamped the number of days of stay is determined at the port of entry. i dont think the duration of stay mentioned in your application is very important. of course you will be asked to account for what you will be doing then.

btw when are you taking cs and where.
gl for your interview and do post your experience.

hi gv5 ,

i m going thro the visa process , so i can help u .....well gv5 , do not ask for duration of stay for more than 15 days , 10 days would be much greater , but 15 is ideal ., but eventually ur visa given is not determined by that , but u r giving an impression to the visa officer that u r going there only for cs , and as well u gotta show that u r working in india (i guess u r in mumbai), and say that u r getting a leave from ur employee for few days , if u ask for a month then the visa officer will doubt that how can an emplyee give u 1 month holiday , trust me , put it as 15 days , dont worry u can change the application now

regarding ur second question:

well ur concern abt u staying in usa should be after getting ur visa , it all depends upon how much duration u r given ,the visa can be stamped for 15 days , 3 months , 6 months , 1 year or 10 year multiple entry , so u can decide abt it after u get the visa .....

hope this helps

well seri , in the port of entry they wont be checking the D156 form , i guess it will be a matter of concern when we come back and apply again in the same consulate in our country .,but i think the initial entry is more crucial and u should make the best out of it

seri , plz correct me if i m wrong

karusmle you are right about potential problems when you apply again for visa. but as far as i've seen visa is stamped for 3 months and when you declare that you are taking cs chances of getting multiple entry are high.

the reason i'd asked for gv5's test date is b'cos the visa officers know that for this exam interviews happpen toward the end of the year and it is common sense to take it during one trip than spend for multiple trips.

yes initial entry is the most important. if exit is as per schedule i.e. without overstay subsequent entries are smooth.good luck all
