why does mismatched repair occur in G2? if the problem is with the 3' exonuclease shouldnt the prob occur in the S phase when the replication is going on?

even though we have DNA-pol excellent "Proofreading" ability which decrease the probabilty of mismatch to 10 power -8 !! but still a tiny chance of UNCORRECTED mutations or mismatches remains after S. G2 is the best time to check for these errors before mitosis happens.
