hi all
i am img from india
i am trying to match for 2008
so can u please tell me when should i start my application process for residency
is step-3 must for application or i may apply for residency & then can give step-3.
actaully my paln is to give step-1 in oct 2006,, step-2 in feb,2007, step-2 cs in june( as in bet this time i will have to get my visa) & step-3 in sep-2007
is it ok ? or i shoud change my plan?
will i require externship or clerkship for getting interview?
please guide me

that sounds like a very good plan kuku.
step 3 is not needed to make an application and can be taken later during residency although taking it before will definitely enhance your chances.
i have heard people who have been able to get into residency without externships in US but it will always be better and you will be much safer if you have done an externship.

still i have some doubt
should i start contact with programme authorities from this time to get externship or clerkship?
doing an externship will require my ecfmg certification?
when shoull i start my application for 2008 match so that i can get enough interviews ?
