'Kaplan Lecture Notes: Microbiology & Immunology' has its pros and cons - Microbiology part in it was written by Dr. Hawley (she is also the author of 'High-Yield Microbiology and Infectiuos Diseases', 2006, 224p. - not the very highly rated review book). I think chapters about microbial genetics and whole immunology are the best in 'Kaplan LN', but almost all other chapters are much more detailed and I think, better (but only if you have enough time) in 'Review of Medical Microbiology & Immunology', by Levinson, 2006, 659p. 'Rapid Review: Microbiology and Immunology', by Rosenthal, 2002, 361p. is also highly recommended - I never have read it though.
