Hi bbb I'm not allow to enter the US more than 10 days before my starting date (I'm on H1B) and I will certainly miss quite a lot of orientation sessions including credentialing, computer training, ACLS and health check. Will that delay my starting date? My PC said it should be OK but I have much in doubt as the actually starting will be on 25th June (I'll be arriving on 21st). I'm quite worried. Has anybody on H1B having the same problem with me?

Your program coordinator will know that answer, not I (and yes, my H1b visa interns are having huge problems this year). Good luck

thanks bbb. I think that's because the embassy has the rule not to let us in more than 10 days of our starting date. it's creating problems as the actually starting date is usually a few days earlier than on paper (I797). are your interns having the same problem like me? or why you said this year?

Because our interns start on a date in June which is the first date of their visa. But it's only good for three years - so they are on from June 24, 06 through June 23, 09. But in '09, we will still need residents on the floor from June 24 through June 30th. So our H1b persons will actually start on the floor from July 1 through June 30th - which means that they will miss orientation and ACLS, physical exams, etc. It's a mess. H1b visas give me grey hairs.

thanks bbb. i really appreciate it. yes, i can now see cause of the problem. so, i might not be able to start a week earlier like others instead i might have to catch them up with paperwork and physical check, etc. actually, it is virtually not possible to cope with everything in 10 days but that's life & i will try to get on with it. thanks again.
