Today is day #1 for studying for this glorious step 2 ck (it should already be day #3 but I guess I'm not really suprised with myself...) I found this forum a few weeks ago and have been visiting it now and then and it has shamed me into 'pulling my socks up' and start studying - it is my goal afterall to become a physician!!! So, I'm starting this journal as a form of self dicipline. I have you guys to answer to, not just my sorry self.... Anyway, back to business! The exam: June 30th I scheduled a free Kaplan step2 exam for this afternoon, which I hope will scare the pants off me even more into tackling the heap of studying I need to do. I have no idea where to start...My resources: FA Boards & wards UW MKSAP for students Platinum vignettes Kaity

Dear kaity, no Kaplan lecture notes among your resources?! I think they're a must-have.

Well yesterday I took the Kaplan diagnostic test and overall got 73% (which I beleive works out to be a pass) but I feel the exam was easier than step 2 will be and the question stems were not very long. So afterwards I met with one of their advisors(sales reps and I asked about getting the Kaplan notes....apparently you can only get them if you sign up for a package that costs about $2000 !!!! Thus, I doubt I will be getting those Is Qbank worth it? As for studying, I've decided to tackle the subject of Pediatrics. GI yesterday was so uninspiring.

You're just starting preparation and you got a 73%? You must be brilliant!

I know I am not brilliant.....I "average" every test I take which is so frustrating as it never seems to correlate as to how much work I put into it. This being said, I'm still gonna really work for this step2...time will tell if the curse of averageness is still upon me. I shall try not to think of this as today I plan to finnish studying peds and will tackle my first block of usmleworld. Yesterday I got kaplans Qbook in the mail from Amazon.com - they are selling them for $28 (usually $44) at the moment if anyone is interested. I think they are selling step 1 and 3 for the same price also. Keep well.

Studying this weekend was almost non existant. Bad,bad, bad. It is midday and I'm just contemplating opening a book. I need a spanking or a jug of coffee to get me going today. Yesterday was mothers day here in the US. I called home (like the dutiful daughter) and ended up feeling quite home sick. So I guess the sooner I pass these tests, hopefully get a residency, then I can get a visa and go home to visit family. That should be a better motivator than a spanking or coffee! I think I'll go get some coffee anyway
