These are the books I’m planning to study, and I’m planning to study in the following order:

FA 2005
Goljan audio
Step up
Behavioral Science: BRS + 2002 kaplan notes
Anatomy: Rapid review: gross and developmental anatomy + 2002 kaplan lecture notes
Histology: Road map + 2002 kaplan notes
Neuroanatomy: Road map + 2002 kaplan notes
Biochemistry: Rapid review + 2002 kaplan notes
Immunology: Rapid review + 2002 kaplan notes
Microbiology: rapid review + 2002 kaplan notes
Physiology: BRS + 2002 kaplan notes
Pharmacology: For the boards and wards + lippincott’s + 2002 kaplan notes
Pathology: BRS + goljan 100 page notes + goljan audio again + goljan slides
Kaplan Qbook and NMS mcq after each subject
FA again
And 1 month of Kaplan qbank
After that NBME form 3 assessment 2 weeks before the real test:
- if I score 450 or higher I will restudy my weak points as my nbme report says and FA again.
- If I score 449 or less I will restudy everything again in 1 month and retake NBME form 4.

I’m planning to do everything in 3 or 4 month with an 8 hour a day studying.

If somebody have a newer version of the Kaplan lecture notes in a pdf or another computer program could you send them to me at spitmetal@gmail.com

Well im writing this because I want that everyboby could tell me if im wrong, wich things I have to change, what im doing ok so critic my plan I would be glad of seeing replies thanks.

By the way im an img and im in my 3rd year of 7 years of medicine.

Behavioral Science: BRS + 2002 kaplan notes - OK
Anatomy: Rapid review: gross and developmental anatomy + 2002 kaplan lecture notes - OK
Histology: Road map + 2002 kaplan notes - OK
Neuroanatomy: Road map + 2002 kaplan notes - OK
Biochemistry: Rapid review + 2002 kaplan notes - OK
Immunology: Rapid review + 2002 kaplan notes + Microbiology: rapid review + 2002 kaplan notes - OK (or get much more detailed 'Review of Medical Microbiology & Immunology', by Levinson, 9th ed. 2006, 659p. instead of Rapid Review)
Physiology: BRS + 2002 kaplan notes - OK (but I think Costanzo's 'Physiology', 3rd ed. 2006, 512p. is better than her BRS)
Pharmacology: For the boards and wards - don't recommend - get 'USMLE Road Map: Pharmacology', by Katzung, 2nd ed. 2005, 178p. instead + lippincott’s (only if it's new 3rd ed. 2005) + 2002 kaplan notes
Pathology: BRS + 'Robbins & Cotran Review of Pathology', by Klatt, 2nd ed. 2004, 432p. + goljan 100 page notes (can't comment) + goljan audio again + goljan slides

Hi spitmetal, do you mean that you are going to study first behavioral then anatomy, histo etc, I was having a hard time deciding in what order to study each subject, I liked the way you arranged them, could you tell me why you picked this order?

thanks p53 i will get 'USMLE Road Map: Pharmacology', by Katzung, 2nd ed. 2005 and 'Robbins & Cotran Review of Pathology', by Klatt thanks for the critic if u have something more to tell me please tell anything you think

Yolanda well i chose this order because in la UACH (my school) they dont teach behavioral so i thougth that i must read this first because is the subject thats going to slow me down because i dont know anything
then anatomy because i feel like i have to know this subject before the others
and basically thas the why of my whole plan!
i putted first bioch, immuno, and micro before physio because you need to know some chemichal patways to understand micho, immuno and physio and pharma (specially this last one)
and picked patho at last because all the time in the tests i remember more the things i studied at last and its suposed that the usmle is bassed more less in patho and you know when you take patho u review some things of the other subjects
jejeje if u dont understand im sorry my english sucks if u want i could explain u in spanish

you'll still need 'Robbins & Cotran Review of Pathology', because 'Kaplan Lecture Notes: Pathology' is a zero:

mm p53 why u dont recomend pharmacology For the boards and wards have u read it?
i bought it because it was the best rated (A-) in FA
i want to know what's wrong whit the book? i have to throw it at the garbage can?
and also what's wrong about lippincott's? i have this one because this book and goodman and gilman are the textbooks that you should have in my school in order to pass pharmacology...

I think that Katzung is much more authoritative for pharma, than Ayala - but if you have already bought it, of course, you shouldn't throw it to the garbage can!
all in all, I have never read 'boards and wards' and you can trust FA on that.
about lippincott's? read my opinion (though it's for 1999, not new 2005 edition) at

wow you read alot man!!! i admire u
im finishing my course of pathology at my medical school i have read all robbins and cotran pathologic basis of disease for my classes and for the tests of this subject i've read the review of pathology by Kumar but they're in spanish i hope that somethings stay in my brain and that these things help me in my usmle prep like u
by the way i love pathologic basis of disease instead of review of pathology because the first one explains why this or that happen or why the better aproach its this or that, the negative point of view is that this book is almost two times bigger than the review

thank you, but as kingsofke likes to say, you answer what you know at the time of exam and not what you have read. I agree with this adage in 100%.
