Hi everyone, I am going to start posting my plans and progress heer too.I started my preperation 4 months ago , completed one revision and then totally slacked off .A lot of things which might sound lame happened and I took time handling everything and usmle preps took the backseat. But now its time again for me to study.I am running out of excuses .Its time to make some real effort now instead of just giving myself peptalks and comforting myself that I can do it..when teh time comes. The time is now.And I am begining right this minute. I hope this journal helps me in keeping to the beat and stops me from slackening off again. At the moment my plan is simple , to start any one subject .Finish it over the next 4 days.Exactly four days .If I can finish this..my focus and concentration would have returned and I know rest will just fall in place.I will report my progress again. hopeful, sil

good luck but are u sure 4 days is enough... i mean i hope u dont get so disapppointed with urself that u enter the no study mood again. start with the subject u like the most...it's probably the opposite of what u've been traditionally advised to do....but in ur case i think u share my problem...getting into the study mode . HAPPY STUDYING!!

!!!! sameen , you got it right.Thats my problem.Once I am a few pages down..i'm okay..On some days however I just cant move on from the first word. Its a mental block I guess .I did well yesterday.I chose physiology. Its one of my easier subjects.Once I finish this I will get some courage. Then i will start posting in detail..about my plans and topics.Wish me luck.

well LOADS of luck im glad my weird advice suited u another thing i use to beat the time constraint is switching subjects initially. what u can do is keep a predominant subject for a day but if u find ure too slow SWITCH. its disorganised but it's more efficient in learning and u end up putting more hours of studying in the day. a few days into it when ure sick of the books try some free questions on the net. dont be disappointed if u get them wrong..this is ur learning phase. more wrong questions means less likely to repeat mistake in future have fun!!

thanx Sameen,You've been so helpful and ecouraging....it will be really great if you can help me with mnemonics.I will try to post some too.thankyou I havnt been studying well all these days...i seem to have too many commitments and distractions..Perhaps my detrmination is not as strong as I imagined..I did finish physiology but was not able to cover any questions at all. This is quite a sas state of afafirs..I have to be completely comfortable with all the subjects by July 1st..There is no choice in the matter..Its impossible for me to request further extension of my step1 date..At the same time teher are many commitments at home .But so many women who are married and have little babies to take care of study with all their heart..I can do it too. I have re-started my preperations [for the umpteenth time] but hope to stick to it this time..I have cut down on few of my timewasters..I'm sure I can keep up this for this whole month until my exam is over. I am studying Pathology from Goljan today.First 3 chapters..plus 100pages of questions. Pathology is what I did not do well during my first revision..hence I am tacking all teh touhg areas first now. I will be more regular this time..because this journal really helps me.

I'm just back from reading a lot of other threads....vallia etc and though i am repeating my point..I think their journals are very inspiring and they are especially amazing because they manage their babies along with studies !!!! It must be so tough .But I dont hear them complaining. Here I am ..single and free and my parents are very willing to create the right atmosphere for me to study..except for some inconveniences and time commitments which they cant help me on..I should be doing very well under the circumestances ! I'm going to go get started now..will post my progress tomorrow. sil

just keep at it sil and pretty soon you will be in the groove of things and all will fall in place. i will advise you though to have time schedule and make a dead line. that will help to further motivate you. of course, it is practically impossible to achieve what one plans but you know what, there is a saying ' failing to plan is planning to fail'. so a plan is always essential. i am of course far from my deadline but cos i ahve one, then i realise i have to buck up. some days will be good and some days bad but just keep at it. U r going fine sil, just keep the pace n take a break when required. That works for me when i am drained...I take too many breaks..but it helps. I cant make myslf study when really nothing is going inside.. so b comfortable n yes try to maintain a schedule a s tolito suggested ... n after all u will forget all these discomforts after this is over with a good result. so work best in ur capacity...
