Hello I've been reading through this forum that goljan is the best for pathology. It might be. I personnally can't digest it. even the audio, I really feel it like a waste of time. I've been reading the kaplan pathology and I like it because I can go through it very fast and I find it clear, simple. I usually have around 80% in pathology in Qbanq, and even in the NBME my score is quite good. I will not read goljan textbook and I will not continue with the audio. Am I doing a big mistake?

wamba, you can try 'BRS Pathology' + 'Robbins and Cotran Review of Pathology' combination instead of Goljan, if you think that it's not working for you. 'Kaplan LN pathology' gives a false impression that you are doing great and fast. don't rely too much on it. just take your 'Kaplan LN pathology' and compare it to the other 'Kaplan LN's - why is book for the most heavily subject so thin?

wamba in my opinion go with what best works with you. no matter how highly rated a material is, if its not working for you than trash it. besides if you are scoring 80% in qbank path and did well on an NBME than you probably don't need anything else. chances are you have a very good background in path. brs and goljan explain concepts more in detail. and to be honest i have found stuff thats not it brs but that are in the kaplan book. why don't you try another question source like robbins review to see how well you do. i think if you can score over 80% in robbins than no need to go running to mommy goljan.

Don't know about what is the best review for pathology - for example, 'First Aid' constantly gives to the books by Goljan no more than B+, and always gives A+, A or A- to 'BRS Pathology', 2005, 512p. Personally I think that the best pathology review is case-based-MCQ-based 'Robbins & Cotran Review of Pathology', 2004, 432p. by Klatt: http://www.us.elsevierhealth.com/product.jsp?isbn... in my opinion, this way, i.e. doing board-like questions and reading answers, is much more effective form of reviewing than reading review text; again, 'you can't review what you never knew'; the problem here is that 'Robbins & Cotran Review of Pathology' is oriented to 'Robbins Basic Pathology', 2002, 873p.: http://www.us.elsevierhealth.com/product.jsp?isbn... and assumes that you have already read it - but many students think that it's too big and too detailed textbook and are doing 'Robbins Review' in combination with BRS or Goljan instead - the result is that they find many questions to be too difficult in 'Robbins Review'; to address this demand, 'Robbins & Cotran Atlas of Pathology', 512p. by Klatt, a highly illustrated brief review text is going to be released on May 19, 2006: http://www.us.elsevierhealth.com/product.jsp?isbn... about Goljan editions: both 'STARS Pathology', 528p. (a dense text with line drawings and without photos, images and MCQs) and 'STARS Pathology Review', 352p. (a light text with photos, images and 500 MCQs) were released in 1998 and are now out of print (i.e. you can buy them only used). STARS stands for 'Saunders Text And Review Series' - books from this series haven't been updated by Saunders, except for 2 titles - 'Physiology', by Costanzo, 2006, 512p. and 'Pharmacology', by Brenner, 2006, 510p., though they don't bear the word 'STARS' in their titles any more. in 2004 Goljan published 'Rapid Review: Pathology', 480p. - the publisher of the 'Rapid Review' series is 'Mosby', not 'Saunders', and the format is different from 'STARS', so I can't say that it's updated 'STARS Pathology' or 'STARS Pathology Review'; 'Rapid Review: Pathology' contains scarcely illustrated review text accompanied by 100 MCQs in the book and as they claim, 500 MCQs on the CD-ROM - quality of CD-ROM is poor though, as it is for all titles in the 'Rapid Review' series - questions are repeating themselves, scoring system makes errors and it isn't giving explanations for the correctly answered choices. there are also numerous illegal Goljan notes in many different size - can't comment on them.

Tx so much for your answers. I have my exam in 20 days so I don't have time to buy 'Robbins & Cotran Review of Pathology or other books. But I will try to follow your advices: listen to goljan audio and try a new flirting with goljan. maybe this time it will work. tx once again guys
