hello everyone, first of all i would like to thank everybody in this forum.i havebeen a regular viewer of this forum throughout my entire prepration..i took my exam on 24 march.just got my score report after waiting for so long..... my exam experience was very bad.after the exam i felt very miserable.frankly speaking found the exam hard.this is not to scare anyone but this was what i found. i had to travel to another city to take the exam as there is no prometric centre where i stay.reached 1 day b4 the exam but the journey was horrible and i ended up having travel sickness. i was very nervous the day b4 the exam ws trying to go through everything possible at the last moment.i was so anxious that i couldnt sleep at all that night.so ended up having headache in the morning took a light breakfast n paracetamol and went to take the exam. my first block ws very tough.was barely able to finish it.took 5 min break after that..2 block was also the same.third was the toughest.during the third block i completely went blank.nothing seemed to enter in my head.i had to read through the entire question twice to be able to understand what they were asking, ran out of time and couldnt answer last 2 questions.next4 blocks wereok.last block was the easiest..i took break after every block.5 min between 1st 4 blocks and 10min between the rest.was soo tired by the end of exam that in the last block i was simply clicking the answers.after the exam i only remembered the questions where i went wrong and felt even more miserable as these were the easiest questions on the whole exam.. internal medicine was heavily tested abt 50% iwould say..obg and psychiatry was also a lot and then surgery and paediatrics. in medicine everythng was tested but most heavily tested were PE,HTN,DM,geriatrics, backache, obesity, acid base..most pts were old with dm and htn and increased BMI... OBG....labour,PID,ENDOMETRIOSIS,GYNAEC CANCERS,contraception.std. psychiatry.....mood ds,schizophrenia, childhood ds,depression was bigtime..and also a lot of psy pharmacology.found psy questions to be the toughest on the whole exam.. paediatrics..mostly normal development...didnt have much of paediatrics in my exam. surgery....trauma and trauma.... biostats....easy questions, case studies interpretation and bias...no calculations.... ethics...found very tough...had no clue what they were asking.. a lot of preventive med...risks factors of common ds.. study material:used mainly kaplan notes and videos and UW notes which i took down. score corelations. real exam - 97(241) UW-1 month subscription.did 1 time random mode-67% kaplan q book-77% kaplan q bank-82% kaptest-76% mock test-84% nbme form 2 one month b4 exam-560(231) studied for 6 months. now i have to take step 1 in july so studying for that.i hope i get a good score in that too. I want to thank everyone in this forum who helped me during my prep.if anyone has any questions i would be more than happy to answer them. good luck to you all...

thank you everyone for ur wishes. Chickimi:i did UW only once but took down notes while doing it.after UW i did one quick revision of kaplan notes along with my UW notes.took me abt 2 weeks.after that i took NBME.ater nbme did a thorough revision and took the exam.so i can say i took roughly 6 weeks after finishing UW. IMG05:i am not preparing for both the steps at the same time but i did listen to goljan audios for step 1,just to have a better understanding of pathophysiology.

Congratulations double helix! It is heartening to know that one can score so well taking 2CK before step 1. Did you feel at a disadvantage at all, while preparing? Was there stuff requiring step 1 type Pharma knowledge in the 2ck exam? Thank you helix and good luck for the future.

thanks a lot. For Sot:listening to goljan did help me to some extent and helped me consolidate my basic concepts.only reason i listened to it was that i was taking step 2 b4 step 1 and wanted to have some knowledge of pathology and pathophysiology. for frontal:ya i felt i was at a disadvantage to some extent because a lot of questions i got wrong required step1 knowledge.for example i had a question on anterior interossious nerve injury, couple of questions on receptors on which the drug acts, one or two genetics and immunology questions. but most of the questions requiring step 1 knowledge were regarding pathophysiology which i was quite comfortable with.

for aimhigh:during the last couple of weeks i just revised the kaplan notes and my UW notes.i think supplementing kaplan notes with UW should be sufficient to get a good score.

Hi thanks Doublhelix! What do you think if I only focus on UW in the last couple of weeks: would it be risky? I feel that I cannot finish both kaplan notes +UW in the last weeks. Thanks!

Thank you helix for an honest answer. Looks like I have more to study than I'd imagined.

Congratulations on your wonderful score. Did you use the Kaplan notes only. Are they sufficient for a good score in the exam? Thanks
