A 17-year-old high school student has just returned from <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Costa Rica. She presents with a 10-day history of crampy abdominal pain, bloody diarrhea and weight loss of about 2,5 kg over a two-week period. She is anorexic but denies having nausea or vomiting.
