dear frendz,
i was a silent observer of this forum,bt i decided to lend a helping hand to those in need,bcoz i was helped a lot by these postings.i had studied for step 1 for about half an year(thou i advice a 6-8 mnths time frame is enough).i studied kaplan for almost everything +FA+katzung review for pharma+jawetz for immuno.for patho i did goljan review and his audio lectures,i bow my head and salute this great man n a great teacher.guys,if u havnt heard his lectures,listen to them if u can afford time,he is jst awesome.
i went to exam center with some doubts about my preparation ,but not short of confidence.guys,dnt lose ur heart jst few days b4 exam ,dats very important,dnt fight a lost battle.they tested very basic things,core concepts were twisted in away that makes u wear thinking caps.lot of ques on b12 n iron defieciency,lots of ques on mechanisms of action of drugs,toxins,all crackable.guys step 1 is all about mehanisms,mechanism, n mechanisms.they test more ur capability to apply facts rather than sole memorising abililty.work on building concepts not cramming things.study headache,got 2 ques on them n so did my other frnd.FA is very meaningful,dont underestimate it,master it.work on second messenger systems,they hit a lot of them.learn to read angiograms of brain,refer snells for clear views.n last of all believe in urself n believe in GOD n if u r lucky enough to have smbdy in ur life as i hav who prays more for me than for herself,u dont need any other assurance.guys plz pray for my success n let me knw if i can help smbdy,it wil be my pleasure.for those hailing from punjab,india,i want them to remember these two lines,"HASHAM FATEH NASEEB UHNA NU,JINHA HIMMAT YAAR BANAI".which means success comes to those who dare to achieve it.

first of all thanks for such a an inspiring post.i have a few questions.
m doing katzung review for pharm.was it helpful on ur exam??
or should i concentrate more on FA?my exam is in june n m really
freaking out right now.also was boistats doable?n is it worth spending
time on cts,mris n histo slides or is it true that either question points
to the answer or else u cant figure out??m realy confused.

hi chazan,
i did solely FA n my self prepared notes in last few days.FA is excellent review when u r nearing exams.study nerve lesions,optic pathway,second messenger systems,drug toxicites n stuff like that.remember formulas for sensitivity,specificity,confidence interval etc.n take vitamin bcomplex capsulesthey help coping with stress.all the best .may GOD help u.

i had genetic questions around 10-12.i studied kaplan biochem for genetics, also refferd high yield genetics a bit,but kaplan was the key.genetics ques wewre almost doable except 2-3.thanks n all the best

hi raves,
the writer for kaplan pharma n katzung review is the same,so the two books complement eachother,yeah katzung was helpful.FA has it's own importance,review it during last days of ur preparation.biostats was simple,did solely from kaplan b.science 2nd chap.for ct mris ,i will say atleast learn to recognize normal things.some ques r not crackable without this knowledge,thou very few ct mris on exam.webpath radiology menu is a good source.n guys hav a look over the ethics topic.lot of ques on exam thou crackable.thanks n all the best

thanks a lot carvedilol,i appreciate ur effort.another thing please....did u do kaplan qbank n nbme tests??if yes ,how would u compare the questions on kaplan online qbank n the real test,imean the level of difficulty?n the nbme tests too??thanks n all the very best again.

hi raves,
i did kaplan online,so no idea about nbme,abt the level of difficulty of kap online to real test scenario,i think it's a mixed picture,some ques on real exam were quite simple,but some were really mind tickling,overall i think ur performance on online kap is near estimate of how would u perform on real exam.

hi img05,actually i m sorry for a mistake in my post.actually i meant to write that i studied for step 1 for year n a half.but sumhow wrote it wrongly.precisely i studied for 15 mnths becz of hectic internship schedule in my collg.dats y i wrote that a 8mnths time frame is enough if u are free to afford full time.
