Hi all,
Thank u all for making this forum really useful.
I completed my CS yesterday in Philly.Planning to take step 2 in july/aug.Need lots of motivation and support from all of u guys.I haven't started my prep yet, just collecting study materials.
MATERIALS I HAVE GOT
Kaplan lecture notes + dvd
CMDT
Goljan audio lectures
FA.
MY PLAN
To finish hearing the dvds and first read in a months time,then to subscribe UW.I need to do some qs along withe the first reading.I think i will do the Q book for that.
If anyone has any suggestions please do try to post.I really appreciate ur help.

Started my first read.I am starting with IM, need to finish it quickly.I need repeated readings to retain things in my brain.Its already 8.30 am, very late to start a day.I need to finish the gastroenterology.
I am reading kaplan ,ref CMDT for the latest management as i have the old kaplan notes.Hope i can finish it.I need to do some qss as well from the same topic.Anyone interested to join can alwaysPM me.

Finished gastroenterology yesterday, didn't do the qs.Need to do it today.Very sloww start.Need to speed up.

Did 40 qs from pretest, thats the only material i have at the moment with chapterwise qs.Made lots of mistakes, mainly from the things i thought i know.Need to make certain concept more clear.Was able to score only61% Qs were relatively easy in that, anyone could score above 80.Starting rheumatology today, as i will be having lots of distraction on a sunday, hope to finish it and do the qs aswell.

Done with rheumatology from kaplan + 35 qs fromm pretest.Scored about 65%, i know its not enough.Lots of distractions today.
Started endocrinology, tough job to finish it in a day.
Need to spend more time, not able to do more than 5hrs/day.

yesterday was a diaster, feeling very very depressed.Finished endocrinology +40 qs.
I am not continuosly reading.OH god pls help me.I can't afford breaks now.Need to finish my first reading quickly.

No serious studies since 2 days.
Today i was able to finish pulmonology + Qs.I thought i will be able to finish IM quickly .Need to put more effort.
I need to increase my study hrs from 5hrs to atleast 8hrs.

I haven't finished IM, need to finish ID,CVS & Emergency med.Will try to finish ID by tonight.

Finished cvs yesterday, did some questions as well.Scored around 63%.
Starting with ID.Planning to finish IM by the end of this week.Then quickly the other subjects.Haven't yet applied for the exam, waiting to finish the first read.
I am listening to the lecture + reading the notes.Conard fisher's lectures is very useful.
Praying to god to help all the people who are working hard for the big exam.

Finally ID is done, going to start kaplan q bank tomorrow.
Thought it will be wise to do some qs with first reading as i will get an idea about the q types and imp HY topics.
Was able to increase my concentration level, did about 8 hrs today.Its difficult with a 4 year old at home.Praying to god to give me and my collegues strength and courage to overcome this big hurdle.Now its 12.30 am.Feeling sleepy, will start with qs tomorrrrow.

hi nithu ,i haven't started yet, but found ur diary very motivating,i need lot of support from my friends with ck,asi have to score very high,i have a4yr old too,i am still confused shud i send her to my mom to inida,but am confused as i am really attached to her,will be able to concentrate after i send her,but will i be able to study hard keeping her with me,she is really handfull.

1 more thing nithu i guess u r finishing 1 chapter per day,then able to q's also,r u doing q's from pretest series or Qbook,how is pretest is it chapter wise,if its like that its very good,sorry to ask u so many q's,but i am feeling we cud be great freinds,as u can feel wht i am saying.thanks.

Sorry for posting an unrelated Q here. I am preparing for step 1 currently. I am an IMG graduated in 2001. For some doubts, I am feeling the need to refer to a Medicine text book. I have my old davidson's medicine book bought in 1997 and I feel Medicine may have changed now. So, I want to buy a Medicine text book to read for Step 2 (which I want to buy 'coz it will be useful for me now). Is Davidson not good for Step 2 internal medicine along with Kaplan? I see that you are using CMDT but I am used to reading Davidson in India. I would appreciate your reply.

Hi,
Started the day very late , did 1 block of kaplan q bank, was able to score only 58%.I was very upset in the end as i thought i did well on the block.Took so long to finish reading the explanations.Its 5.30 pm now need to start reading medicine.
Hi sima, so nice to hear from u.I started doing pretest{ chap wise } first but the one i have is in pdf format, its getting stuck in between.So now i am doing q bank subject wise.I am glad that u are there for me.I am sending my son to the nursery, so atleast i can study that time + night ,when he is asleep.

NO davidson please.Do what u can learn from kap. supplement w/ Question banks (Qbook.kap Qbank) and not w/ theory books. other sources canbe nms, mksap. These Qs will prepare u to do UW. After completing UW, I have realised i had been wasting time doing other things before.
Yes,remember to have few weeks after completing UW, to revise your UWnotes before u take exam.You can read posts by kingsofke(support forum) and LisaM here to help u better.
I also took my final prof using davidson.That phase is over now.

Started the day by doing qbank 2nd block.Score remains the same 58%.I haven't gone thru the explanations yet.7 more blocks in IM.Hope i can improve my scores.My aim is to score 70% consistently, i know that is difficult but not impossible.Going to listen to the lecture now.Weekend i am sure i won't be able to put much effort due to family reasons.Thinking of doing some other subjects on sat /sun.

nithu when r u planing to do UW,since u have allready strted kapl qbank,will uu be doing UW after a reading after q bank,just wondering ur strategy.
on 18,19 wht did u read from kaplan text.

its so nice to have u here.Good to hear that u have started reading.Hope we can make it.
I did haematology on 18th and was doing qs on 19th.Was really saturated with IM so i thought i will read something else for a change.So i listened to obgyn lectures yesterday.I may sound stupid but thought i will do something more relaxed during weekends as i will have lots of distractions.
About the q bank, i have the cd which i got from my friend.So i will start UW subscription after my first read,hopefully mid june.Its already 9.20 and i haven't yet started,planning to start with lecture.s,obgyn. Bye

Today was very lazy day.Did only 5 hours of study.
Did 50 qs from q bank.Scored 63% not happy as it was obgyn.
Heard 3 hours of obg lectures + 1 hour reading +1 hour for reading the explanations.
I am not sure how much i can read today, lets hope for the best and start the day.Its already 9.20, thinking of starting with the qs.

Sunday was again not a fruitful day for me, didn't get a chance to read much.Did try to finish 50 q from theq bank.
Started monday witha big plan - to finish neurology.Started with the lectures.Planning to finish the qs as well.Then what is left is preventive + emergency in the IM.Hope i can finish med in 2 days.Its been almost 3 weeks and i am still doing the med.Need to speed up.

I'm in the same boat as u...planning to give my exam sometime in july/aug. 'm doing IM now, still left with cardio, ID, derm. I want to ask u how the que in qbank are? how many Q r there in total n did u find them useful?

Som,
I have this 22 block q bank with 50 qs each block.I am finding it useful.Questions will give u an idea which areas we should stress while reading the theory.
I got this q bank cd from my friend.Questions are not very tough, but mostly basic facts.
